Orange Tondo is built through accumulation—layers upon layers of oil paint developed over time, each pass responding to the last. The surface holds a dense history of movement, with every mark partially revealed, partially concealed, creating a rich, evolving field of colour and texture.

The circular format contains the energy, allowing it to circulate rather than escape. Gestural strokes repeat, overlap, and shift direction, forming a rhythmic, almost pulsing composition. Warm oranges and reds dominate, pushing forward with intensity, while cooler notes weave through to create balance and depth.

Without resin, the raw quality of the oil remains fully present—matte, tactile, and immediate—inviting a closer, more intimate engagement with the surface. The painting reveals itself slowly, offering new relationships and details over time.
